Non-corporate work as a Videographer and Post-Production Artist.
The French Woods Festival of the Performing Arts (New York, USA)
I was responsible for capturing and editing the live performances at The French Woods Festival of the Performing Arts.
This required a technical understanding of theatre camera operation and a fast, efficient workflow for multi-camera editing in Premiere Pro. Additionally, for some of the larger productions, such as Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club or Hadestown, I used a live vision mixer. I communicated with a team of camera operators over shots and direction. To undertake this role, it demanded planning and understanding the specific needs of the production (musical, drama, etc.), the script, lighting plans and design concepts. Editing Hadestown required cutting to a different pace than Spring Awakening, for example, due to the show's tonal and visual differences. Editing live theatre is not simply reproducing what's on stage, but retelling the story from a different medium.
During my time there, I also taught film workshops covering directing, cinematography, editing, and After Effects animation, and I ran a new, popular class called Film Challenge. This class involved creating a film a day with a new challenge implemented to help inspire creativity in the children's work. These challenges could range from using one room, one shot, no dialogue, specific genres, and much more.
At the end of the camp, we let the children pitch their own challenges, from which we choose one and create over the space of two days. This course has been incredibly successful among campers and has had an impact on their creativity when making films. I have created upwards of 20 films (narrative and documentary), including Film Challenge projects for the kids, of which seven have been selected for outside film festivals.
I am thrilled to say I achieved an award for my work at the camp.
This has been an incredibly rewarding position, and has helped inspire me to continue looking for film work that makes a positive impact on our communities.
Music Video
I was a videographer on the music video 'Stargazer' by Makarian. I used my FX30 and Sirui Nightwalker Series lenses for it's low aperture versatility.
Directed by Ruth Mariner
I was the editor for the project 'I Am Your Mirror', an 'interactive multimedia installation using creative technology and movement to activate our mirror neurons — the part of the brain that enables us to intuitively understand the emotional states of ourselves and others, helping us feel seen, heard and connected'
